I am a 22 year old who suffers from an illness called Lupus. Lupus is an auto-immune disease that attacks itself. So when you become sick your immune system attacks the virus you might have, but when you have lupus your immune system attacks not only your unhealthy cells but also your healthy cells causing constant illness.

I am a qualified teacher living in Australia and I love to educate people about anything and everything, so when being diagnosed with Lupus I thought I would use my teaching skills to good and create a blog to allow for people to follow me on my journey with Lupus. 

​

It is still early days for me but I am learning something new about my illness everyday and I think it is important everyone else has the opportunity to learn something new as well.  Before my signs and symptoms of Lupus became quite obvious and serious I loved playing a lot of sport that involved contact and heavy running. Since being diagnosed I have noticed that it has become harder to play the sports I want to play and compete in.

I chose to name my blog page Yours Sincerely, Lupus because everything that is caused by pain or sickness is from the underlying issue of having lupus. Lupus loves to work in the background until it decides to cause more serious damage. When I think back to certain things that have occurred to my body over the past few years I think to myself that was an underlying issue where my body was warning me about my lupus. I joke with my family about how red my face goes when I eat something in particular and I always say Yours Sincerely, Lupus because the bright red face wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have Lupus.
